I can tell right away that I’m definitely NOT a barista. But I believe that I can try and I can learn from my wife (who was one). That being said, this cup o espresso isn’t so bad. It doesn’t have that truly amazing taste that I’ve come to expect, but it still beats out Starbucks!

I’ll have to wait to give you a report of how good the drinks are, but I’m excited. After doing a little research I’ve found that this is a higher-end machine. We’re waiting to use it until Emily is feeling well and can make me some good stuff - she used to be a barista!

Single Origin: Kona

Although I’ve been drinking this coffee for a little while, I’ve failed to tell you all about it! Kona (in my opinion) is the ONLY decent coffee from Hawaii.
One of the issues with Kona is that most of the time it takes a little searching to find a true single origin. I’m not sure where this was found as it was a gift. But I can assure you that it’s welcome in my coffee pot any time!
Kona coffee comes across as a medium bodied coffee with a smooth, sweet finish with a hint of citrus. This is a moderately acidic coffee so I wouldn’t recommend drinking a whole pot by yourself! If you can find some, I would encourage you to give it a shot.

It’s Christmas time and I’m in Port Angeles with my wife and her family. Last night I was out with Dennis and Tim (Brother-in-law and nephew) and we found Major Dickason’s Blend from Peet’s and decided to give it a shot; not because it’s a good coffee, but because it’s named like something that I would drink (for some reason). It’s a bold, bitter coffee with that “Starbuck’s tang” bite to it.

He’s still the same guy as before. The reason the coffee has changed is because the coffee was “lacking that certain something,” according to him.
Nor’West Coffee is a new, local company that has at least one familiar offering: Guatemala Finca El Injerto. The reason that MUGS made the switch to a local company was due to regular’s demand as well as a ‘step up in quality.’
I was able to sample some of the new coffee and can say that I’m impressed. The folks at Nor’West know what they’re doing. It’s nice to try a nice, local, freshyl-roasted coffee.
